Infectim®

Vaginal and urinary tract infections

Infectim® is composed of three probiotics that are all lactobacilli, strains naturally present in the vaginal flora. These strains have been the subject of extensive scientific work and publications.

Composition

Composition

Infectim® is composed of Lactobacillus plantarum (DSM 24937), Lactobacillus rhamnosus (DSM 25568) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (DSM 24936). The total number of probiotics per capsule is about 1.5 billion CFU* at the end of shelf life. Infectim® can be used for treatment and prevention of recurrent vaginal yeast and bacterial infections, as well as for urinary tract infections.

Infectim® is recommended for all cases of occasional alterations of the urogenital microbiota. Infectim® facilitates the recovery of vaginal flora by inhibiting the growth of harmful microorganisms responsible for bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis and urinary tract infections.

Characteristics

Efficiency

Infectim® has demonstrated its efficacy against the most common pathogens in bacterial vaginosis (Gardnerella vaginalis), candidiasis (Candida albicans) and urinary tract infections (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus faecalis). Infectim® is efficient against several pathogens by mechanisms involving competition, lactic acid, bacteriocins and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production and by the co-aggregation process. Infectim has also local anti-inflammatory proprieties. Infectim® acts rapidly leading to a significant decrease of pathogens within 24 hours after the initiation of the treatment.
